PCC condemns serious violent disorder in Liverpool

Merseyside's Police and Crime Commissioner Emily Spurrell said:
"I am appalled by the scenes of violence and destruction in Liverpool this afternoon and reports Merseyside Police officers have been targeted and injured.
"This is not protest.
"It is mindless crime and disorder.
"And it is not welcome in our city or our region.
"Those involved should expect to feel the full force of the law.
"My profound thanks go to our officers and staff. After the most challenging of weeks, they continue to put the safety of our communities ahead of their own.
"We are in their debt."
