Police and Crime Panel

- Knowsley Municipal Buildings, Huyton
Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell

Merseyside's Police Commissioner is today (16th March) meeting with the Police and Crime Panel, the body which scrutinises her work.

Emily Spurrell meets six times a year with the Panel. They support the Police Commissioner in her work, while holding responsibility for overseeing her work and making sure she is holding the Chief Constable to account.

She will present her plans for how she is developing her Police and Crime Plan for Merseyside.

The Plan details how policing and community safety is delivered in the region and sets out how the Commissioner, Merseyside Police and her community safety partners will focus their energy and resources on the issues that matter most to local people.

The meeting will give the Police Commissioner the chance to hear Panel members views on the three key pillars of her Plan and what should be prioritised within these themes:

  • Fighting Crime; Proactive Policing;
  • Supporting Victims; Safer Communities;
  • Driving Change; Prevent Offending.

The Plan is then used by the Police Commissioner to monitor how Merseyside Police is progressing against those priorities.

Also on the agenda for discussion is the community safety strategy, the PCC complaints handling processes and key decisions made by the Police Commissioner since she took office.

Police and Crime Panel meetings are always open to the public and you are welcome to attend.
