We're supporting Radio City's MISSION CHRISTMAS campaign
03.12.21 - MerseysideSanta’s officers are supporting Radio City’s ‘Mission Christmas’ for another year to ensure under-privileged children and young people wake up to presents under the tree this Christmas.
“Every child in Merseyside deserves to have a special Christmas each and every year but not every family can afford to buy their children gifts. Therefore, officers and staff across the force have teamed up with Radio City for another year to ensure no child goes without a gift this Christmas," said Inspector Sharon O’Brien.
As well as encouraging our own officers and staff to donate presents, we will also host a series of collection points at various police stations for the public to also drop off their gifts.
The drop-off points are as follows:
- Huyton Police Station - Lathom Road, Huyton, L36 9XU
- Admiral Street Police Station - Admiral St, Liverpool L8 8JN
- Marsh Lane Police Station - Bootle, L20 5BW
- Southport Police Station - Albert Road, Southport, PR9 0LL
- Wallasey Police Station - Manor Road, Liscard, CH44 1DA
If you want to donate, please purchase a new gift – no need to wrap it – and drop it off at one of the locations listed above by 19th December. The present should be suitable for a child or young person aged between 0-18. The gifts will then be sorted and sent to children in the local area. Applications are made by social workers, children’s homes and women's refuges to name a few.
Inspector O’Brien continued: "Christmas has always been a time for giving and thinking about those less fortunate than ourselves.
"This year we are supporting Radio City’s campaign and encourage everyone who can, to help.
"It has been a stressful and uncertain almost two years for us all so it has never been more poignant to give to those who might be less fortunate than ourselves. Our police force is made up of people who really care for the community and want to give back so we will be encouraging staff, officers and members of the public to make a donation to this years Mission Christmas.
"This really is what Christmas is all about, with every gift making this time of year better for those children in our communities who might otherwise go without."
Merseyside’s Police Commissioner Emily Spurrell added: “After another really tough year for many families, it is more important than ever that we spread some festive cheer.
“Radio City’s ‘Mission Christmas’ is such a simple idea, but one that can make the world of difference to a child who may otherwise have been waking up on Christmas Day with nothing waiting for them under the tree.
“Even a small gesture can make a huge difference particularly during the holiday season and by supporting this campaign we can help make sure many more children will be able to experience the magic of Christmas this year.”
